- Pool Shark 3.0
- --------------
- Installation
- ------------
-
- To install Pool Shark do the following :
-
- 1) If you have downloaded Pool Shark from a BBS, unzip
- the compression file and there will be 4 files that
- are decompressed : README, INSTALL.EXE, ID, and BESTOFF
- Go into the directory with these files and enter
- INSTALL at the DOS prompt.
-
- If you have received Pool Shark on a floppy, put the Pool
- Shark floppy into drive A: or drive B and type :
- A:INSTALL or B:INSTALL
-
- 2) Answer the drive and directory questions that the install
- process asks, or just accept the defaults by pressing Enter.
- If you accept the defaults, Pool Shark will be installed in
- the directory \POOL on the requested destination hard drive.
-
- 3) After installation is complete, the game will start up
- automatically. To run Pool Shark later, go into the
- installation directory and type in POOL at the prompt.
-
- 4) To get help use on-line Help by pressing "H" or left click
- on (H), or pick Help from the Menu. You can get a hard copy
- of the Help by printing out the file "pool.hlp" in the Pool
- Shark directory.
-
- Hardware Requirements
- ---------------------
- o VGA or EGA monitor.
-
- o 286, 386, 486 or higher processor.
-
- o Hard Drive
-
- o Mouse : Make sure that a mouse driver is installed, before
- running Pool Shark. See your mouse manual for details.
- If you are running Pool Shark from Windows, don't assume
- that because Windows is already using the mouse, that a
- mouse driver is installed and therefore useable by Pool
- Shark. This in not necessarily the case. You must
- explicitly install, a mouse driver, so that it is
- resident in memory, before starting Windows. If Pool
- Shark starts up, and the Menu flashes on and off while
- receiving no keyboard or mouse input, there is no mouse
- driver installed. Hit <CTRL>Break and install a mouse
- drive.
-
- o RAM : Pool Shark requires 450 K of free conventional memory. If
- you don't have enough RAM, run DOS in high memory.
- Put these lines in the CONFIG.SYS file :
-
- DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
- DOS=HIGH
-
- If you still don't have enough RAM try using the EMM386
- memory manager by putting the following in the CONFIG.SYS
-
- DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE
-
- If you don't have enough conventional memory available
- to run Pool Shark, but have extended memory and Windows,
- Pool Shark can be run from Windows, but it will run
- more slowly. (Also remember to install a mouse driver
- before starting Windows, becuase Pool Shark will not have
- access to the Windows mouse driver)
